Lawmen Thursday afternoon recovered the bodies of three fishermen who went missing as an engine boat capsized after colliding with a lighter vessel in the estuary of the River Karnaphuli in the morning.
The police said the fishing boat FV Igal-7 19 crewmen on board turned turtle at about 6:00am after colliding with a lighter vessel and 16 of the fishermen were rescued with the help of small boats.
Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of the Patenga police station, said three of the fishermen remained missing since the incident.
He also said three small boats had pulled FV Igal ashore in the afternoon.
'We have found three bodies in inside the cabin of the fishing boat,' he added.
One of the deceased was identified as Amzad Hossain, 38, of Ramgati of Laksmipur while two others could not be identified immediately.
