Freedom Fighters at a pre-iftar discussion on Thursday urged the government to fulfil their demands including implementation of 30 per cent job-quota of their children, increase of allowance, providing treatment and old age support.
They said many of the Freedom Fighters were still suffering from various problems and they should be provided with essential supports for full-length implementation of the spirit of the liberation war.
Rajshahi district unit of FF Sangsad hosted the discussion at Uttara Community Centre attended and addressed by mayor of Rajshahi AHM Khairuzzaman Liton as the chief guest with Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, in the chair.
They urged the FFs to act prudently for advancement of Bangladesh in the path of spirit of the war of liberation alongside preventing any conspiracy against the country and its people.
Besides, mayor Liton said the Rajshahi City Corporation had fulfilled the 30 per cent quota for the children of FFs and had been working relentlessly for their overall livelihood development.
In this context, he told the meeting that the present government was very much positive towards welfare of the great sons of the soil.
Alleging erstwhile BNP-Jamaat government for hanging many innocent persons including freedom fighters lawmaker Badsha said they were now raising hue and cry against clemency of death penalty by president of Bangladesh.
In this regard, he alleged that freedom fighter Md Ali Khaza was given death penalty being influenced by Moudud Ahmed.
Among others, FF district commander Saidur Rahman, city commander Abdul Mannan, NAP-Communist Party Chhatra Union Guerrilla Bahini convener Mustafizur Rahman Khan, FF Badiuzzaman, FF Advocate Abdul Hadi, Prof Ruhul Amin Pramanic and FF Durul Huda also spoke.
