A worker died after he fell to the hatch of a ship at No-10 river mooring of Chittagong Port early yesterday.
The deceased was Manir Hossain, 25, hailing from Laldiar Char under Patenga Police Station in the port city.
Manir was injured seriously as he slipped down to the hatch while welding the retaining steel wall of Banglar Gaurav, a ship owned by Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), around 2:00am, said Nur Alam, a fellow worker of Manir.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
